Cooperation with Chinese Academy of Sciences on further energy storage technology

Today, SNNA CHEM was visited by a researcher team from Chinese Academy of Sciences, the highest academic institution of natural science in China. Chief Technical Officer Mr. Ding and related engineers welcomed this team led by Researcher Mr. Wang.

 

Mr. Wang made a brief presentation of existing technologies on energy storage, they are classified into five categories: mechanical class (pumped hydro, compressed air and flywheel energy storage), chemical class (Synthetic natural gas and water electrolyzing), electrical class (supercapacitor and superconducting energy storage), electrochemical class (all kinds of secondary batteries) and heat storage class (heat storage, cold storage, phase-change material and thermochemical material storage). And finally both party focused on the area which we could cooperate, i.e. liquid air energy storage technology.

 

The principle of this liquid air energy storage technology is to use the peak valley electricity to convert atmospheric air into liquid form, then it is stored in cryogenic tanks at -196 temperature. When it comes to the peak demand for electricity, the liquid air is pressurized and heated to drive turbine to generate electricity.

 

Considering the technical advantages of SNNA CHEM on cryogenic technologies, Mr. Wang’s team seeks cooperation with us, and at the end of the meeting, a cooperation framework agreement is finalized and signed by researcher Mr. Wang and our CTO Mr. Ding.
